Deine Lakaien Biography



Deine Lakaien is a German electronic music band formed in 1985 by Alexander Veljanov and Ernst Horn. The band's early work was heavily influenced by the synthpop and new wave music of the 1980s. Deine Lakaien's first album, "Deine Lakaien," was released in 1985 and featured a dark, atmospheric sound that drew comparisons to bands like Depeche Mode and Joy Division.

In 1986, Deine Lakaien released their second album, "Dark Star," which marked a shift towards a more electronic sound and brought the band mainstream success in Germany. The album featured the hit single "Love Me to the End," which became one of the band's most popular songs.





Deine Lakaien continued to release successful albums throughout the 1990s, including "Vendetta" (1991), "2nd Star" (1992), and "Kasmodiah" (1994). The band's live performances during this time period became known for their elaborate stage shows and visual effects.

In the 2000s, Deine Lakaien released several more albums, including "Indicator" (1999), "Acoustic" (2002) and "Where You Are" (2006). The band's sound during this period became more introspective and experimental, incorporating elements of trip hop and dub.

Deine Lakaien continues to tour and release new music to this day. The band's most recent album, "Dual", was released in 2019. Throughout their career, Deine Lakaien has sold over one million records, and has a strong following in Germany and other parts of Europe, known for their unique blend of electronic and orchestral elements and the emotive, theatrical performances of Veljanov.
