Digital Factor

Digital Factor Biography

Digital Factor is an electronic music band from Germany, formed in 1989 by Jörg Böhme and Ralf Henrich. The duo was part of the early 90's EBM (Electronic Body Music) scene, along with acts like Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, and Skinny Puppy.

Digital Factor's debut album "Mindless" was released in 1990, and was well received by critics and fans of the genre. The album showcased the band's unique blend of heavy basslines, driving beats, and politically charged lyrics. The band quickly gained a reputation for their energetic live performances, which often featured elaborate stage setups and theatrics.

In 1992, Digital Factor released their second album "Noize", which expanded on the band's signature sound, with more experimental elements and a darker, more atmospheric tone. This album also featured collaborations with other artists from the EBM scene, such as Nitzer Ebb's Douglas McCarthy and Skinny Puppy's cEvin Key.

The band's third album "Sonic Destruction" was released in 1994, and marked a departure from the band's earlier sound. The album featured more industrial and experimental elements, and was met with mixed reviews from critics. Despite this, the band continued to tour and perform live, and maintained a dedicated fanbase.

In 1997, Digital Factor released their fourth and final album "The Future is Now", which was considered a return to the band's roots. The album featured a more straightforward EBM sound and was well received by both critics and fans.

After the release of "The Future is Now", Digital Factor went on an indefinite hiatus, with Jörg Böhme and Ralf Henrich focusing on their solo projects. Over the years, there have been rumors of a reunion, but nothing has been confirmed. Nevertheless, Digital Factor's music continues to be celebrated and influential in the EBM and industrial music scenes.
