Fortification 55

Fortification 55 is a German industrial band that was formed in the early 1990s. The band was started by two musicians, Jörg Schelte and Michael Zech, who both shared a passion for experimental electronic music. They began creating music together, and soon established a sound that was heavily influenced by early industrial acts such as Einstürzende Neubauten and Throbbing Gristle.

In 1991, Fortification 55 released their debut album "No Rest for the Wicked", which was well-received by fans of the industrial genre. The band's sound was characterized by heavy use of percussion and samples, as well as a strong focus on political and social themes.

Over the next few years, Fortification 55 continued to release albums and tour extensively, building a dedicated fanbase in the industrial and electronic music scenes. They became known for their intense live performances, which often featured elaborate stage setups and theatrical elements.

In the late 1990s, Fortification 55 began to experiment with new sounds and styles, incorporating elements of ambient and experimental music into their sound. This led to the release of their critically acclaimed album "The Art of Violence" in 1998.

Since then, Fortification 55 has continued to release music and tour, with their most recent album "The Fall of Empires" released in 2020. The band continues to be a major influence in the industrial and experimental music scenes, and is highly respected by fans and critics alike.

Fortification 55 is a band that continues to push the boundaries of industrial and electronic music, and their unique sound and style make them one of the most interesting and innovative acts in the genre today.
