Tommi Stumpff is a German electronic music project formed in 1983 by Tom Weyer. The project's name comes from the band member's last name and the German word for "speed", "Stumpff" being a nickname given to Weyer by friends. Tommi Stumpff is considered one of the pioneers of the German electronic body music (EBM) scene, along with other bands such as Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb.

Weyer began his career as a member of the band "Glatze des Willens" and in 1983 he decided to start his own project and released his first LP "Schmerz" under the name Tommi Stumpff. The album was an instant success and established Tommi Stumpff as a prominent figure in the EBM scene. The album featured aggressive lyrics, and electronic beats and synthesizers, which were still relatively new to the scene.

In 1984, Tommi Stumpff released their second album "Kalt", which was a continuation of the style established in the first album. The album featured songs with a harder edge, with lyrics about pain, anger, and the darker side of human nature. The album also featured a cover version of the song “Kalt” which was originally written and performed by the band "Glatze des Willens".

In 1985, Tommi Stumpff released their third album "Zerstörung", which was a departure from their previous albums and a more experimental work.
